The Freeman Center
The mission of The Mary & Eliza Freeman Center for History and Community is to restore, preserve, and ensure the viability of the Mary and Eliza Freeman Houses. This organization hopes to teach the history of Connecticut Blacks; revitalize the surrounding South End community; and facilitate the preservation and revitalization of other African American, and greater Bridgeport historic/preservation communities.
As the Freeman Center’s 200th anniversary happened during the pandemic, the organization still hoped to celebrate this achievement with the community while respecting COVID regulations. Wingo recontextualized their live event as a virtual campaign celebration and developed messaging text and visuals geared towards maximum community inclusion and fundraising. The Design team reimagined the anniversary branding through the creation of the event logo, and all the materials needed to build the virtual event itself. This included editing the pre-recorded video and adding lower thirds, title cards, background music, and motion graphics.
